A part of the South Bay community since 2009, Santa Clara Sunshine Daycare is a family-owned and operated, home-based daycare that primarily serves children aged 12 months and above.
In 2017, we opened our second location - Santa Clara Little Learners Preschool - with the goal of continuing the journey with families that are looking to prepare their child for Pre-K. Both locations focus on providing a loving, stimulating, and challenging environment with curriculum that is carefully planned by the staff.
We believe that children learn best through hands-on experiences and active play, which is why both centers implement a play-based philosophy and focus on the idea that learning should be fun. We encourage children to be inquisitive and ask "Why?" because that helps guide our curriculum. If children are learning about something that they are interested in, they are more likely to understand and retain the information.
Through activities such as learning about different cultures using music and observing the lifecycle of beetles, children in our centers are able to expand their cognitive development through exploration and experimentation.
Children's Environment
Dr. Maria Montessori was one of the first early childhood theorists who suggested that in order to breed a sense of ownership and encourage independence, children needed to play in an environment designed specifically for them—one where they can reach and move everything within their purview.
In an effort to foster this independence and autonomy, our centers have child-sized environments, which also are known to enrich a child’s cognitive, social, and emotional development.
